Big Trout Lake Mourns Loss After Fire

For Immediate Release - May 2, 2019

The community of Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug, also known as Big Trout Lake, is in shock this morning at the passing of five of their residents as a result of an early morning house fire.

Chief Donny Morris of Big Trout Lake, located 600km north of Thunder Bay, shared “We are in utter disbelief as every community member is connected and impacted. Today, our community mourns this tragic loss.”

Though the identities of the deceased have not yet been released, Chief Morris expresses his sincere condolences in this troubling time. More information will be released as additional details become available.
