Steady progress continues across member communities as new homes move through construction in both Whitesand First Nation and Lac Seul First Nation.

In Whitesand, ten new 3- and 4-bedroom homes are being constructed along Whitesand Drive, adding to the five completed last year. Work began on August 8th and remains ahead of schedule, with crews already hanging drywall. Power is expected to be connected on December 8th, and the projected turnover date is February 28th.

Each home includes a metal roof, wood siding, front and back decks, septic systems installed, tri-pane windows, Rockwool insulation for added fire protection, and full basements that will support families into the future.

These units have become a familiar sight for people travelling through the community. Community members have been closely following the progress, often driving along Whitesand Drive to see each stage take shape.

Mookii Architecture, the design team behind the project, has expressed their excitement as the homes take shape and plans to visit for a tour once construction is complete.

Lac Seul is also moving forward with fifteen IFNA-designed homes, five in each community. With local soil conditions and a higher water table, these homes are being constructed with four-foot crawlspaces. Work began in late September, and the units are already framed, with roofing now underway.

Across member Nations, these builds reflect steady progress in meeting community housing needs. We are building homes that support comfort, stability, and the futures families are planning for.
